Default DCCD driving in snow

Hi I upgraded from a wrx bug eye 2001 and to a 2005 sti with ppp a few months ago, I have a hill on my driveway to get my scooby into my garage at home and my sti seems to struggle in the snow and think it's down to the DCCD as I never had problems with my wrx.

Should I be using the DCCD in "lock" when driving in snow? Rather than "auto" ? Or just use it for hills etc

Thanks for any info.

Probably down to the tyres, dont have that issue in the snow on winter tyres on my Spec C, leave it in auto most of the time, what tyres do you have fitted?

Tony's right, tyres count for a lot but with AWD (traction) and proper tyres (grip) an Impreza is a beast on snow.

I tended to go full lock on frank snow and leave it towards lock on icy roads.

In my hatch I go Auto+ and again only reserve full lock for snow.

Find an empty snowy car park and play with the different settings.

My sti has Pirelli P zero rosso 235/40/18 tyres on it,

I think my wrx had Kumho 225/40/18 tyres on it.

It's still early days but I'm not over impressed with the pirellis

If your tyres have a decent tread use lock to move off / get up a hill in a strait line. Otherwise I find it best to roll it forward 3 notches and mine at least feels alot more ballanced

I only use fully lock if going from a stop start on a snowy hill, rest of the time its all the way back
