Default TD05 18G OR VF34 FOR MY BLOB WRX???

i know this has probably been asked a thousand times but whats the better option to go for?vf34 or 18g !?!? i have no intention of uprating internals or gearbox, just clutch and maybe flywheel.
ive got every other supporting mod to match these turbos
just want peoples experiences of these turbos on a wrx
i know 18g will be a bit more laggy but is it worth it for the top end rush?

You have more options in relation to the 2 turbo's you have there and cheaper too, so look at the vf35, vf48, hybrid TD04 as well as the above.
Also what are you aiming for power/performance wise
Oh and you will probably need to upgrade your injectors as the same time.

Tony

yeah got a nice set of sti pinks waiting to go in same time as turbo and new remap.been looking at other options too like you say,but i think ive whittled it down to the two i mentioned.looking for as close to 350hp really, but still want it running nicely within the parts limits,so would be happy with 310-330hp on 278hp at the moment.

VF34 probably not as powerfull as 18g but, you get much more usable power, as its power band is very long... 18g has this old school type of kick up the **** and when it does it it feels great... But the spool is much later than the vf34... VF35 is a gret turbo as Tony mentioned , quick spool = quick raod car... Numbers dont nescesary will make a faster car , dont be fooled .
Personaly vf series all the way, or even better SC range...

Theres very little in terms of spool difference on a vf35 to an 18g. 2 or 300 rpm in my case as i went from the 35 to the 18g. If your not going to be uprating gearbox etc id stick with the vf35. The 18g will give a fair amount more power. but ofcourse theres risk of blowing the box up. Im my case the vf35 made 330bhp the 18g 380 on v power and 401bhp with 20% meth. Only other changes was bigger injectors for the amount of fuel needed for the meth map

Both good turbos, but the 18g might be a bit too powerfull for the wrx box as the 18g will have more tourque and that's what kills the box, I see you have now bought one, advisable to get it mapped to a reasonable level without going too high.
I have the 34 and it's a nice turbo @ 330 drives well on road with less amount of lag so useable power for a road car.

Id say around 330-350 max dependant on mods, but a good useable turbo

Id aim for 330-350 max to protect your car, id say the 18g will do 360+

Nice one Jake. Thanks for reply.
Will be going for about 280. rear box already changed from twin pipe pea shooter to prodrive one . To loose all cat and replace with a ppp sports cat. Plus 3 point sol and panel. And maybe a upgraded fuel pump. So should feel the difference then

Yeah 270 -280 is achievable for a stage 1 tune, I'm running k&n typhoon induction, 100 cell ninja sports cat, decat centre and raptor backbox. plus a decat up pipe(which is essential) and a 255 fuel pump with ecutek map. Yes you will certainly feel the difference! Lol best of Luck and have fun then :-)
