Hi all,

I've got the opportunity to go on a skid pan training day at Thruxton but the only downside is that they won't let us use our own cars - they only use their RWD BMWs. My question is - would it be of benefit in "everyday" road driving in the Scoob, or would I be better off looking for a skid pan which will let me do it in an AWD car, or better still, my own?

I did this course at Castle Combe in RWD 1800 beamers, and won the competition Its a complete blast, and yes you learn alot! even if you think you know it all (like I did) you will still learn something. My course also included a proper 4WD assault in some Land Rovers. Awesome day.

Hopefully no skid course is going to help your everyday driving !

You will learn stuff in a RWD car - all these things are worth doing you always pick up something - even if it's not stalling the car when up you come to a stand still at the end of the skid

Does anyone know where you can drive a scoob on a skidpan ?

I'd like to find a safe environment to work out what to do when it goes wrong, and how it goes wrong - limited experimentation suggests it doesn't respond anything like I expect most of the time

Wink

Don Palmer at Driving Development may be able to help. He used to run a course at MIRA on the wet handling circuit in your own car which was excellent.

I know Don's not at MIRA anymore, it's bruntingthorpe. I don't know if anyone's done the course @bruntingthorpe, but with no wet area, how's the course?

I've got a link at home to a school that normally uses Sierras on their skid pad but will let you take your own car on.

Will try to remember to dig it out.
