Default Urgent Oil Help!

Hi guys, My Impreza WRX 2003 was very low on oil today so I went to Halfords to get some Castrol Edge 5w/40, I was in such a rush today that I picked the bottle behind the one I was looking at only to relise after putting it in the car its Castrol Edge 0w/40!!! I have only driven the car 4 miles today, but is this Oil OK or should I drain it out if its not going to give the protection i need!
Cars done 100,000 milee.
I did a good search and some one said I could spin a bearing with this oil!??

Was my fault, I should ave checked the bottle when i picked it up!
Thanks

Get the correct oil and a fresh filter and change it to make sure, an engine rebuild is not really a nice thing to have to fork out on to start your new year off.

Some oil is better than none!

I would just change it at the next service, it's not going to do any harm.

You are right Jay!
Is Castrol Edge 5w/40 OK to use? or should I use a better one.

Doubt it will kill it, but if it was mine for the sake of 30-40 quid a would drop the lot and refill with fresh oil.

ah 2.5L in that case as Jay said "change it to be safe" 5w40 is ok but as the car appears to have an oil leak or has been burning it? i personally would move to an 10w40 synthetic.

And 2.5 litres is mental it must have been mega low as min to max is about a litre so could have destroyed your engine mate, change it and check it more often or it will end up costing thousands

A semi synthetic will be fine then mate, better than whats in it the now, when did u last check it as 2.5 litres is a huge amount, i use less than a 1/4 a litre over 5000 miles with forged pistons so that sounds a lot

If a Dealer one is better then I will use one.
