PSI3 - Plug & Play? PICS pg 2
Hi all,
I'm after one of these ECU readers to mount on the dash where the clock is at the moment on my 07 Spec D.
Or, maybe an Ecutek one, as they look pretty much identical. Should I find one, are they simply mounted on the dash, and plugged into the OBD socket and thats it?
Is there any additional power / sensors / wiring needed?
I'd like the colour / effect coded shroud to go with it.

Yeah, I have the oil temp sensor, not yet connected but plumbed into the back of the PSI3, I can't be bothered to whip it out countless times (the PSI3 that is!). You also need the long defi style cables to connect them all!

I have one surplus to requirements, that used to be in my 05 WRX, its the PSI3 S.E.C.S S1004, plugs into the OBD port and has the shroud to fit it where the clock is on top of the dash.
I will dig it out and try it as I havent used it for a long time.

Fingers crossed it all works fine and he decides to sell it!
They look the part aswell. I had one in a 54 plate STi UK blob 5-6 years ago.
I remember being able to program in a welcome message when starting the car.

And a big thank you to pacenote! I now have a perfect condition PSI3 to dash mount.
Seems straightforward enough to do, and upon testing OT and OP were giving readings!
Pics to follow once sorted.

It's a 100% factory standard car, I doubt the previous owner would have fitted them.
Checked it again earlier and OP was 3.2 bar, and OT was 79 deg.

im confused! im a fitter by trade and understand all things mechanical but these subaru's and all the electronics are beyond me!!! bit of a technophobe you might say! all i would like to see is oil temp and pressure and turbo boost pressure if possible without going down the route of fitting actual gauges as this would be a ball ache, wanting to keep things looking as original as possible.

Then a PSI3 or similar is the way for you. Plugs into th OBD, fits into a single DIN slot or dash mounted, simple as that.

Mine doesn't register oil pressure or temp, but the oil temp sensor (defi) is cheap enough....

Couple taken from google, there are a few different models, and some support user tune function which allows to change certain elements of the ecu if you ask your mapper to activate it (model dependant I beleive)

The bottom one in that pic is one of the very latest models. Does all sorts of things. They'll still make 300+.
The others still fetch over 100-150 ish.
As mentioned PSi3 went bust ages ago. ECUtek never made these, they just sold them on from PSi3.
If you are looking to buy one, make sure its a decent ish version. All off the firmware on there can only be updated by PSi3 (the remaining members), and IIR its only version/firware 8 onwards that allows oil temp and pressure.
