Hatchback - differences

Hatchback - differences
Odd question...
Are there any major chassis differences between the R, WRX or STi? So for example, if you were going to build a race/track/rally car, would it matter which shell you start with?
Obviously there are component differences and the STis have wider panels - anything else?

Sorry I cannot be more help on any differences between different shells.
rob84 will probably best placed person on here to know the ins & outs of "poverty" spec Imprezas, compared to the STi
You must be one of the first to go down the hatch track day toy route.

Sti would probably be a better base to work with especially to convert to track or rally use, for starters its wide track not narrow bodied like the wrx or the R so thats a plus in its favour better stability.
sti runs 6spd box with DCCD much stronger box than the 5 speed and can take far more abuse.
Brembo brakes as std too.
depends on your budget and long term goal. WRX probably would be fine but you'd end up wishing you'd bought the sti for the extras that it has in my personal opinion
