Just driving home, as I changed gear pressed the clutch pedal down which went to the floor and stayed there, the clutch was still engaged, didn't feel like it was connected to anything. Pulled it back up with my foot but when pressed again just goes to the floor without any resistance and without disengaging the clutch. Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks.

Lightbulb

Clutch cable springs to mind as most probable cause, failing that get ready for a new clutch £300 on average just for clutch assembly.

Assuming it's an Impreza turbo, the clutches are hydraulic, not cable

check the linkage for the clutch under the intercooler (if it's a top mount). May have become disconnected.

Do I get to the pedal box from the inside, in the footwell?
The linkage from under the car?

Thumbs up

Rigsby

Pedalbox is viewed inside the car under the dashboard.

Linkage is under the bonnet beneath the intercooler.

if hydraulic clutch and all components are where they should be you may have a slave cylinder problem or clutch may need bleeding through to get rid of any air in hyd system check for leaks aroung gearbox flywheel area

Checked the pedal box and everything looks ok. Can I get to linkage from under the car or do I need to start taking the intercooler off etc?
If all else fails can anyone recommend a good mechanic M1/M25 area, used Steve L, before who was excellent is he still working??

this happened to the 22b when i drove it at the ring the release fork had broken i think, can't be a regular occurence though, probably hose split, as air in system would give a gradual loss in pedal feel, not like this. if you look down the engine bay behind the intercooler you may be able to see the slave cylinder, like a little piston thingy, with a rubber boot on it, roughly in line with the centre of the car as i remember...

Owain

if it's just the hose shouldn't b 2 expensive to fix, from underneath maybe if car was on a ramp.
