Hi from new Forester Sti owner!
Just thought I'd say a quick hello (hope this is the right section of the forum). I've just picked up my new 2004 Forester Sti this weekend and with so many bits being common to the Impreza/Forester I decided to join up here. It's fairly standard at the moment except a backbox, dump valve and tow bar. Originally imported by Litchfield in 2007 and just had 2 owners in the UK, it seems to be in really good condition. Anyway here's a couple of snaps (poor quality from iphone, better to come I hope!!)
and the reason I got a Forester and not an Impreza.....
Cheers, Chris

Thanks for the positive comments. Found it on pistonheads, it was in Aberdeen luckily, I'm only about an hour away up near Elgin. Exhaust and dump valve are proving a bit noisy for me so keeping my eye out for a quieter back box and going to try adjusting the dump valve. It's a gfb one, are they well rated??

Would remove the dump valve and go back to a recirculating one. Plenty of back boxes around but it depends on what your personal tastes are. Keep an eye out on here in the for sale section, it may take you an attempt to two till you fine one that suits you. Would recommend a Hayward and Scott or a tsl grpn both subtle on tick over and around town but growl when on the throttle

Cheers guys. Signed up on forester.org yesterday, need to have a good look around though. Yep on the look out for a standard dump valve, nothing to be gained but noise from the aftermarket ones by the looks of things. Backbox wise may actually try a standard one to start with. If I can get one cheap at least it wont matter if I have to modify it to make it fit.

Best colour out there, saw this one but still loving my hatch so when I get bored of think it will be time to scratch the forester sti itch.
Plenty of standard back boxes around but I would suggest a prodrive back box. Slightly deeper sound over the standard sti.

I would keep an eye on the for sale section on here but also the wonderful world of eBay. Might be an idea to buy one off the same year impreza to give the best chance of it being a direct fit. Also drop David a call at API he may have something kicking about or at least point you in the direction of the right year box that will fit with the least amount of hassle. You could try Scott in the traders breakers area to as he breaks plenty of impreza's so will have good stocks etc
Best of luck and enjoy

Hi Mate,
Good to hear from another FSti owner so close by! Haven't ever seen another to be honest, in fact I do wonder exactly how many are in the country.
I've hopefully got a Prodrive exhaust arriving in the next few days to replace the noisy thing thats on at the moment. The dump valve has been put back to standard too so no more bssssshh on changing gear. Need to get it cleaned and better pictures taken as soon as we get a nice day.

Thanks for the replies fellas.
The Forester now has a nice new (second hand) Prodrive backbox which I'm finding much better. Cheers to Iggy who posted further up on this thread for sorting that. The backbox needed slightly longer mounts to work but loving both the look and the sound of it now it's on. I can see why people would want more noise, but as a daily driven car I prefer a more stealthy approach. Need to get the Prodrive centre section fitted as soon as I get a decent day.
Stig, the previous back box doesn't have any markings on so not sure what make it is. It wasn't horrifically noisy but it did interfere with the tow bar mount. If you don't have a tow bar I'm sure it'd be fine. Let me know if you're interested, I don't want much for it.
The chap in Abredeen sounds about right, there aren't many about so I was sure someone on here would know it! Really happy with it so far, need to sort a band expander for the radio and get on the look out for some Impreza alloys with winter tyres on but other than that just enjoy driving it really.
Cheers, Chris
