Its common knowledge that the speed cameras between junc 1 -10 arnt activated due to surrey police and highways arguing who's going to maintain them.

However this morning i saw multiple flashes from a speed camera near j8 anticlockwise.

Anyone heard of them being switched on?

 

I'm pretty sure they are only activated if a reduced speed limit is enforced ie accident , debris in road , roadworks etc etc
They are switched of in normal conditions 70
Day/night .
Did you see the matrix flashing on opposite carridge way / if so this would explain the above

 

I have been flashed by these Camera's on my bike doing 95 being pushed by a annoying van driver... nothing came through though!

I have seen other cars being flashed while going over 90 between junction 17 and 22.

 

Not sure if they have changed the type, but the ones between 8 - 10 were not proper speed cameras.

I saw a police scamera van a couple of years ago doing well over the advertised limit (it was something like 50mph, and the van was doing around 70) between J9 and J10. I wrote to Surrey Scamera partnership to complain. At the time this section had posted limits but no camera's to enforce them. I got a reply that this section does not get legally enforced by the camera's. Though that was about 2 years ago.

Also this article out the other day seems to suggest that between 5-7 they are not currently enforced

They do flash if you're doing 90+ as a true speed ie not speedo speed.
