Question Bugeye sti rear light leak issue

Hi all,
Been getting dampness on left hand side of boot, so today I got some silicone sealant and had a poke around the left light. (Right one is dry as a bone)
Found the inner ring rubber seal (that fits beween the body and plastic light shell) was soaking at the bottom. Put silicone sealant underneath and on top. I am unsure if this will fix the problem, and will have to silicone the whole underneath of the light to the metal shell?
Any advice would be great, thank you

i wouldnt use silicone to be honest as you would have so much trouble if you need them removed, the best stuff to use in my opinion is
Carafax Caraseal IDL99,its non drying stuff
its the same stuff used to seal in caravans
