Need Help buying scooby
#1
hi everyone
I'm thinking of buying a second hand impreza, say 93/94. My insurance quotes are too high for an imported WRX (£2500+ !!!!!) so I'm going with a UK spec car. The trouble is, I don't know much about them. I don't really know what dodgy signs to look for ie. turbo/clutch conditions, smoke form the exhaust etc. If anyone can give me some handy tips or even let me give them a call I would be very grateful.
Cheers

Mul,
Where are you getting insurance quotes from?
Give Adrian Flux a call(01553 777888), they rated the WRX the same as a UK Spec car when they quoted me.
£705 with a £300 excess. I'm 28 with full Protected NCB.1994 WRX.
Justin.

Mul,
Shop around till you drop on insurance. I'm paying £715 (with a named driver) on an STI insured at 26k.
Imports should only differ by 10% from UK cars. Don't forget a 12k Import car will be less than a 18k UK car to insure.
E-mail me and I will give you a contact in insurance who whould be cheaper than most.
In terms of buying a car. Depends on your budget. If low teans, a WRX will be the one (there are now loads so shop around and drive at least 4 or 5 so you no when your driving a dud). Also get someone who really knows their stuff to check the car over before you pay your money. Its worth doing.
Buy right and it will be a dream.
Good luck
Chris
