Default V3 sti type r, what boost?

Hello all picked up a v3 sti type r a few weeks ago, and if I'm honest it really doesn't feel as quick as it should do. I noticed last night when out for a drive that the boost comes in at 1.2 bar, then pretty swiftly drops off to 0.8? Is this right? The car has a full decat from the turbo back (2.5 system I believe), an apexi power fc ecu mapped by API, and a very loud forge vta dump valve which I despise and need to change ASAP back to a recirculating one. Could the dump valve be causing any issues? I have checked all the hoses and there are no boost leaks anywhere as far as I can tell, it just doesn't feel much quicker than my old
Turbo 2000 did with a decat and 1.0 bar of boost? Cheers in advance for the replies and sorry about the formatting, I'm on my phone.

Standard boost is 1.1bar, is the ecu being used to control the boost or an external boost controller?

Only the power fc mate. Thanks for the reply. From what I have read you don't need a boost controller with the power fc unless you are pre-97?

boost control is not brilliant on the power fc unless you get the boost control kit, who mapped the car?

I have a power FC also and this is true. Really you need a electronic boost control also.

I would give them a bell and just query what boost it was mapped to or alternatively speak to simon (jolly green monster) and get him to give the car a once over for peace of mind

Thank you for the info! Is it worth getting the car mapped again? I have a slight turbo oil seal leak also, could this cause the issue? Gives me an excuse to the mrs to swap the vf23 for a scoobyclinic sc36 haha

Quite possibly and sounds like you have already made up your mind to change the turbo

Turbo change then map again

Do injectors at the same time and consider a front mount intercooler

Cheers guys, what injectors would I need? Also I'd rather not chop up the bumper (as its a pretty standard looking car) for the frontmount, will the sti top mount not be sufficient? How much would the mapping be all in Simon? Thanks in advance

Just noticed a sort of sludgy oil around the dump valve "vents". Bollocks! I'm guessing that would be the turbo oil seal?

Banny, you say a V3 STI runs 1.1 standard ?

When I turn my boost controller off my car runs at about 0.7 bar boost, is this not normal ?

Normal. Its the oil breathers that feed back into the inlet pipe.

Check oils not over filled.

Thanks Simon will be in touch next month! Just out of interest does that include the rolling road fee or is that extra?

Dyno time will be extra I'd imagine as Simon doesn't own a dyno so would have to rent time on one. Be about £50 for the dyno use.

Or, Simon will map it on the road.

Personal opinion is that a road map would be more fine tuned to the car and how it drives, but I am no expert!
