It must feel really unnatural/strange/alien at first! - due to the years of training one's brain to innately lift off the throttle during gear changes.

Vital 1000ths saved in your traffic light GPs, though. lol

Mind, I thought like that prior to buying an Integrale Evo - didn't think I'd never get used to LHD, with the RH gear changes. How wrong I was: strange for the first week or two (used to keep 'changing gear' in the driver's door bin LOL). But completely natural thereafter.

It's a leap of faith, a bit like Indiana Jones, or more probably Star Wars.

I struggle to get used to taking the van out off gear at lights for it to go into "eco" mode , nevermind not lifting off while changing gear i my car.

fair play !

So does it hold the revs where they were last at when the clutch was pressed ?

I flat shift all the time in my van, but it's not my wallet that pays for its upkeep...

Is this something that has to be mapped to the Alcatek? I quite like the idea of this (providing I can undo 20 years of driving and lifting off during gear-changes).

Got the Flatfoot shift on the hatch with the ECUTEK Racerom. It was a bit odd changing gear on full throttle but hell once you get your head around it you cant stop yourself using it its bloody awesome

It's available on all upgraded ecus and all new ones in the current range.
It stops the revs from climbing during the change by using fuel and ignition cut and retard strategies to retain boost during the change making for faster acceleration.

I had flat shifting put on mine by JGM when mapped.

There was a big leap of faith when first trying it, especially after nearly 40 years of normal(ish) driving, and I still need to concentrate to be able to achieve it but when it goes right it's great. I seem to recall that Simon said that it was programmed to drop the revs slightly from maximum when the clutch is depressed so preventing over revving.

Unfortunately, I also had the downshift blip added which turned into a big mistake but Simon doesn't seem to want to respond to my emails - I've given up now. The mistake is that sometimes when braking quite hard and putting the clutch in I get a surge of power before the clutch releases which is not conducive to confidence in "emergency" situations especially when is seems so random in operation.

The stupid thing is that the reason I thought I wanted the downshift blip was because my throttle was so sensitive that it was hard to control it properly with heel and toe but once I had had the remap done the sensitivity has been all but removed and it's now much easier to control so don't need it anyway.

So flat shifting good, downshift blip bad.
