I remember seeing some reports about a paintwork treatment that is applied as a one-off to a new car.

Apparently very good.

Any idea what this is & contact details?

Hi, i think what you are looking for is Diamond Brite which is a paint protection. It is applied in 2 stages, the first is wiped all over the paintwork (looks like water), leave it to dry then apply the second stage (looks like polish) without removing the first stage. Leave the two to bond together for a couple of hours and then buff off. It leaves a brilliant shine especially on the darker colours (makes black look deeper- glossy). When you have this done also supplied should be a bottle of conserver which is diluted in water and wiped on every couple of months to top it up. This is usually bought/applied at dealerships (jaguar, bmw, etc) and can cost as much as £300-£400 so i've seen but only costs them £25
