Hi Guys

I'm having the following upgrades fitted to my car:
vf34
sti tmic
3 port boost valve
Pink injectors
De-cat uppipe

Once they've been fitted I need to take the car about 40 miles to my mapper. I've been told it's ok to drive it as long as I drive off boost.

I'm a bit worried I might damage something....so do I drive it...or get it taken on a transporter. What would you do? Advice appreciated!

Cheers

If you genuinely drive it off boost then the turbo, tmic, decat and 3-port changes will be of no consequences - they are only relevant on boost.

The injectors have increased in size from 440 (IIRC) to 550, so about 20% larger. That means that it will be injecting 20% more fuel for a given duty cycle. But the stock ecu can add/remove fuel to compensate...I think up to about +-15%.

So you might end up running a little rich, but I would tend to agree that it would be OK to drive CAREFULLY to the mapper.

It'll be fine, just drive very very steady. DO NOT get it anywhere near boost.
I wouldn't advise riding around in it but if your only driving straight to your mapper then no worries.

Also, guessing you've already done the fuel pump ?

Nice one guys, great advice , yes I have uprated the fuel pump to a walbro, I just wanted to get some advice and didn't really want to spend £100 on a transporter.

I think I will drive it there and take easy.

Cheers

I drove 50 odd miles to Bob Rawle with similar mods fitted, sat at 50mph (2.5K) revs on the motorway no problems, bit wierd with everyone staring at you wondering why a scooby is getting overtaken by arctic lorries lol

Remember doing similar mods to my old Escort Cosworth and had to then drive it 60miles ish to be mapped. Took it easy with no boost and it was fine. Will be ok.....

On my last upgrade prior to mapping I had to drive 200 miles for the mapping on the A1, M62 and M6. I could not help but sue SOME boost but did not use foot flat to the floor. Your good thing is you wil be over fueling so if you have to use boost you cannot run lean just don't full throttle it.
