Default handed my *** on a plate!

had a bit of a chase from an escort rs turbo yesterday and he blew past me like i was standing stil!!! wtf?? im running td05 300 odd bhp @1.3 bar admittedly mine doesnt really wake up until 4000rpm, so is it time for an andy f hybrid td04? anyone got one and can comment on the spool characteristics? the midrange on mine is strong higher up the power band but half the time if your gonna get a wee chase its around the town and not on motorways etc. guess im missing earlier boost and more instant acceleration. of course this "chase" was at legal speeds

Or you could just stop worrying about how fast other cars are and not get involved in `chases`. Just enjoy the car.

Sorry yabba, this forum is for people who never drive faster than the speed limit, give chase or race, people on this forum have never done any such thing and never would, we all bought imprezas purely to drive fast on track days, you have to be absolutely perfectly law abiding and willing to wack any other member off for approval on here lol

andy forrest Hybrid TD04 would see around 320 bhp but would come in a lot lower down the revs,

has the car, what one?? been mapped for any mods or add ons just now before you waste money on a turbo when a remap might be a better idea for similar power levels.

All you can say is that it was clearly not a standard example, as to what he has done is anyones guess and impossible to know with out looking under the bonnet. From what you said though it sounds like a lot of money may have been pumped into it.

thank christ there is some people that still like a wee blast. its been mapped already by andy f for the td05, 3 port, later map sensor and apexi. i seen a hybrid andy td04 on here for sale which according to the ad was running similar power to mine but said it pulls strongly early and keeps going which sounds pretty good to me! mine doesnt start pulling strongly until about 4000rpm, which does feel somewhat lacking until you hit the power band higher up. the hybrid af td04 has a larger housing i think which gives it early spool but allows good power as well?

There`s a BIG BIG difference between `spirited` driving or occasionally `putting your foot down` (and I do both) and racing / chasing whatever If you want `approval` grow up.

i never said i raced around the streets like a mad man (i dont btw) so its ok for you to occasionally put the foot down but not me? please, your the 1 needing to grow up id say. there is always an occasion where we have all done it wether it be some idiot up your *** and they annoy you so u press the loud pedal a bit to get away from them or some young dude revving his sooped up nova behind you. if occasional " spirited driving" is ok for you then its good enough for me.

Tdo4 hybrid usually boosts from 2300rpm but you will loose a lot of top end, anything over 5k lacks, why not a vf34

Usually the smaller housing will spool earlier! A tdo4 hybrid might spool quicker but it will run out of power before your tdo5. There shouldnt be that much difference between a hybrid tdo4 and a tdo5 16g i wouldnt have thought.

look i wanted an opinion about the turbo not a moral debate, yes i agree racing on public roads is very bad and is against the law, only a total fool would not know that. a guy came up behind me real close and i put my foot down to lose him and he blew past me end of story, it wasnt mad max road warrior stuff for christs sake. unlike a lot of you guys who have time and money to go racing on tracks i dont and have a missus and young son, i work all week and drive like miss daisy to work as its only 10 mins from my house and i like a wee blast out on the country roads now and again. now dummies back in an go about your business thanks.

"300 odd" bhp isn't much really, especially if the RS has been modded up over the years and weighs considerably less than a scoob. I personally would not want to down grade turbos to a TD04 hybrid as this will run out off puff higher up the revs. Get a vf34 which will get you to 340bhp,, Or vf35 if you want quicker spool.

apac isnt the td04 hybrid meant to plug that gap and be best of both as the different housing allows early spool and make good power as well?

dood dont b upset u took 1 for da team, i had a similer xperience

I woz jus croozin along in my phat ride(scooby) when I get to some lites and right beside me was dis rs turbo! Ah look ovah at him an hes all grinnin like hes fly and gonna waste me. He had this beyatch wiv him and shes a fly blond, thinkin her man is the dog's bollox.

So teh lights goez green and were off. Man im p1ssin all ovah dis guy its embarasing!!! Then we ave to stop 4da next lites. Were of again an im double clutching, heel toeing and quick shifting and he don stand a chance!! Man you shouda seen the look on his face! He tried not to show it but he waz well ragin! His bird was laughin at him to! Best she wishes she was in da scooy!!

Anywayz we pulled over after for a chat. He told me his chariot had been boosted to 400 ponnies so I wuz well chuffed. What really fvcked im of was dat he was on his way to work where he test drives F1 cars. His boss reckons hes a better driver than Schuey and he sez i shud give him a bell for a job too.

It was a gr8 race an i thought id tell yoos all about it and help keep da scooby scene real.

lololololol

man there are some self righteous knock-holes on this site

dude, a 300bhp scooby isnt that quick in the real world - maybe 0-60 it'll keep up with most cars but after that well it gets a bit shown up

I got absolutely owned by a 55amg roadster the other day - but that's the difference between 300bhp and 500+bhp!

the escort might have been running at high boost and possibly stripped out - you never know though, half a mile down the road he might have been on the hard shoulder with the bonnet up covered in oil
