stereo wiring
hi guys, i've got a 93 L REG scoobywagon wrx sti. i cant work out the stereo wiring, either the stereo stays illuminated , so when left for a few days the battery goes flat. or it wont hold its memory so need to re tune every time i switch the ignition on (most annoying) has anyone got a wiring diagram for this car, or any ideas... cheers guys
you should have 2 live wires, one permanent live to hold memory and one switched live on the first click of the ignition.
the stereo requires both lives to be on to work, just use a multimeter to test for them.

usually red and yellow on the stereo, sounds like they might just joined together on the back of the stereo (not in the car harness, or car would start and not turn off)
i have a red and a yellow, i've tried various combinations ... someones cut the loom to pieces and used chocklate block (bodger) so i was sort of hoping for a wiring diagram, i cant workout the speaker wires either..... nightmare. i might just get someone who knows what theyre doing ... lol
If the loom is moosed just throw a perma live (fused) from the battery and a switched live from the heater and hey presto your sorted, as for the speakers they are usually in pairs ie red with yellow stripe and yellow with red stripe ect ect, good luck
like addi says they are in pairs, green+green/stripe, purple+purple stripe, grey+grey stripe, white+stripe
you can test the speaker wires with a battery to fit out which is which. in wiring loom, get a pair and touch them on either terminal on a 1.5-9v battery, you will hear which one they are connected to
