What`s the best way to get a stainless steel backbox clean again? I know Autosol is good stuff but this might need some `machine help` too I don`t think I have enough elbow grease

 

would help if people know what it is your trying to clean,
Britemax twins is a cracking cleaner/protector.

I used to use car plan wonder wheels to remove any grime, followed by brasso, definitely not silvo, i don't know why but brasso works much better, it used to bring my back box up a treat!

depending on how bad it is yes it will clean off, protect and shine. Have used this for donkeys years.

 

I`ve just had an hour on it and the WD has taken the worst off tbh, but it`s gonna need a little more help. Might try the stuff mentioned earlier

 

Wd40 wont solve the problem where the metal has oxidised and left a copper like colour on the exhaust. .For that autosol will remove without to much effort .I have sold 5 exhaust on this site in 7 weeks & for me its autosol everytime.

If you try halfords they had a offer on a few weeks ago buy any 3 cleaning products pay only for 2, so you can get some alloy wheel cleaner as well as 2 tubs of autosol , which is what I did. :thumb

 

all wd40 will do is de tar if honest

 

I use Astonish powder from betterware its a household cleaning paste works fab on, lots of stuff cheep to buy think you can get from tesco too in cleaning isle its a little tub wet your cloth rub it round then polish metal/ pvc window frames etc . Its not scratchy like wire wool so wont dammage surcace I always use on my exhaust comesup a treat :-)

 

i use autosol and have some polishing mops for the eleccy drill works a treat. have the drill on a low speed otherwise it flys everywhere

I used Autosol, an old Rolson polishing kit and SOME elbow grease...this is the best I could get it - shame it doesn`t sound as good as it looks!

 

i use autosol or peek metal polish,

wire wool and then buff off with microfiber cloth.

always get a gd shine from that

 

I was unable to find anywhere that sold ultra fine (00) wire wool, only coarse, medium and fine...so I didn`t use it on this occasion.

 

What about a plumbers yard ? Not sure what grade they use , but it looks pretty fine.
