Default type R gearbox answers please

hi there i have a 98 type r please can someone tell me:

how much i need too do a change?

how do i change?

what oil i should use?

what happends if i over fill? as since i have had the engine out the box once warmed up has started too whine slightly, its always been notchy going into gears.

the box was built less than 8k miles ago at the end of 2010 at a cost of 1400

any help is appreciated

i have 2L of motul gear 300 75w90 at home too if this is any good

You shouldnt need to change the GB oil after 8k.

I think its 4.1 litres.

Remove the plug at the bottom of the gearbox to allow the old oil to drain out. Replace. Fill through the dipstick hole. This can be tricky but you can get a small funnel in there.

thank you should it be notchy tho? i thought i would change it just incase, is my motul ok or shall i buy some of that anti shock stuff i have heard about?

I spoke to oilman and he says he cannot think of a instance when the redline shockproof has been used in a dccd box so was unable to clarify wether u can use the shockproof.

Would be intrested to hear if anybody else on here has used the smurfs blood on a dccd box ?

Yes I have. Didnt really notice any difference from the Millers that was in there before.

Running 400/400.
