Has insurance gone mad for scoobies?
Right I posted this in Insurance with more details but no one looked, so here is the easy to read version.
All quotes from Bell Direct website for 1 year (and are quick quote rather than full):
EVO 6 £1800 (276bhp)
Toyota Supra Twin Turbo £1100 (326bhp)
Audi S6 £1900 (340bhp)
V70 T5 £1100 (250bhp)
Skyline £3400 (276bhp+)
V70R AWD £1300 (250bhp)
Audi TT Coupe £1500 (225bhp)
and then a the scooby, competely standard!
97 Turbo 2000 £2100 (208bhp)
(All cars were UK models not imports)
Looks like i'm off to trade in my WRX against a Supra, I'm sure I'd be much safer in that

Dreading renewal in september if thats the case. This year £735 fully protected , legal cover , breakdown cover , £100 excess with Barclays. Last year £750 same cover £100 excess , but Adrian flux for some reason wanted to up the excess to £400 so changed to Barclays. Graham 95 WRX.

Vaux Nova 993cc 1986/C = £285 for wife only - 3rd Party F&T £100 X/S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure that Rum* or Dave etc will correct me on this but i heard that it is standard pactice in the insurance industry to work out premiums using the following formula:
(Applicants age X Car insurance group) - years of NCB X the number you first thought of / your mothers inside leg mesurement.....
Ta Da is this your card ?

Ross: who on earth was that with?
I've only had silly quotes so far - it seems that the mere whisper of the word 'modified' makes insurance companies squeal and run for the hills... (MY00 UK spec, 26, full NCB, PPP imminent)
Andy.

Actually, I retract that, you are completely correct. I am just off to buy a Perodua Nippa because they are SO delightful to drive and the insurance is SO cheap. I must get a cloth cap and some slippers while I am out too.
Oh, and a pipe....
And maybe a nodding dog for the back window.....
You pays your money, you takes your choice.....

I am well chuffed.

No I don't think that its the right link - alot of stuff about sailing only.
I found that where you live is one of the most important factors in affecting the premium. I notice that Ross lives in Alva which is a bit rural. The same car and driver at a major city address would be twice as much.
