How to remove Sti off tmic

Default How to remove Sti off tmic

as above im upgarding my wrx with si bits but want it looking standard, whats the best way to remove the painted Sti off the tmic, will paint striper be ok and not damage the fins,

then once done i would like the main body (not fins) painted up nice, any ideas on best way to acheve this please.

I tell you what is good for removing paint, but in my opinion, not as harsh as paint stripper, cellulose thinners. I have used it at work quite a few times but not on a tmic, so couldn't say at all if it would do any harm. Hopefully somebody will come along that knows about this sort of thing.

Just thought I'd throw in another idea.

Only easiest way is to spray all the fins silver

I thought about this, but have heard spraying fins reduces the efficiency of the fins due to the reduction in heat disipation effect, um.. or something like that

I personally wouldnt paint over it..... kinda defeats the object if you coat it in something that acts as insulation.

cellulose thinners & an old tooth brush will do the job fine.

well,if you go nuts yes, but a quick squirt squirt, wahay with a silver paint would be fine, but if your worried, remove with thinners,considering they are painted from factory anyway silver............... but hey ho

Funny you say that, mines bare aluminium but my mates one same year & spec O.E.M tmic is coated in silver paint?
