Default Best turbo?

My03 sti has a td04 turbo on it, someone told me it should be a vf35. Is there any difference between the two or is the td04 an upgrade? Or maybe it's been replaced because its cheaper. Or is that the td04 the standard one?
Thanks in advance

My mate checked it, and the turbo had td04 written on it. I know the turbo has been replaced because I have a receipt for it. I will need to double check when I get the car back from the garage. Which is better?

So your car is getting stripped for engine problem not had a remap and got the wrong turbo on it **** sake mate cancel the finance and go to court for your money back for your car you traded in no wonder your engine is fcuked with all the changes and no map and the td04 only goes to 280bhp with a map and supporting mods

I'd double check that your car is,

a) actually a Subaru
And
b) an STi not a Wrx

Seriously though, how long have you had it and the list of issues is looooooooooooong already.

Dude, you've bought a nail, (who evers fault it is), get your friggin' money back before the car sees you into an early grave.

Never ever heard of anyone with a STI downgrading their turbo for a WRX one? I would question if it was a STI at all? How many gears does your car have? You got any pictures etc?

It's defo an sti. Done a check on the car and it was all legit. He's taking the engine to some engineering place apparently. I've been told to check the engine number when I get it back. I will also ask him about the turbo because it was him that fitted the new turbo. It has 6 gears

See the Invoice for the td04 how much was it for or is it a used one as he is doing everything on the cheap as said i wouldnt trust the engine build to be done right and it will still need mapping which he wont bother doing

It says on the receipt it's a s/h turbo £400
I'm going to get it mapped as soon as I get it back. Will the td04 restrict the power?

Td04 is 215bhp-225bhp and you can buy a second hand one for £50 off here or ebay mate with the remap you should see 280bhp

Bloody hell which ba$tard sold you this STi matey?

TD04 on STi,is downgrade, please can you take the picture of housing of your turbo, before you are making decision buying something which you don't have.

I'm angry on some people who can try make money with robbing the 1st buyers

On TD04 you should be see at least 270-280bhp after mapping, due this VF35 will be better bet and you should be making 330-350bhp

Please just check you have there fitted too STi pink injectors, because if you have there TD04 i'm really not sure, what can be there wrong

No disrespect but it shows!

Is there a small possibility that it's a hybrid TD04 from someone like Andy F.?

i know the garage and there dodgy *******. as i said on the other forum.

get to trading standards and get it rejected "not fit for purpose" and get your money back, regardless if they have sold your trade in on fight for money back to help you get another one.
hes not going to fix the engine right and your going to have nothing but trouble with it.

really hope you dont let this ***** get away with it stu
