Ninja exhaust no different!!
I have a Prodrive backbox at the mo but wanted more volume and grunt.
After reading ppl's comments it was a toss up between Afterburner and Ninja but was offered a Ninja which I was happy to purchase.
To be honest there is hardly any difference which was disappointing.
Is there a noticeable difference in the Afterburner & Ninja? If not will I have to opt for an exhaust specialist to custom make what I want
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated

Do you still have a resonated centre section, The bit before the backbox, If you put a non-resonated one on this will improve the sound without removing any cats
The afterburner is loud once de-catted but not sure how it sounds with cats on.

Std ninja backbox does not sound the same as a ninja2.
The ninja 2 gives a nice bassy soundtrack on tickover and when fully decatted gives a nice growl without being ott when you get your boot down.
Afterburner vortex roars and is LOUD fully decatted + pops & bangs with no remap needed + occasional flames
I have only recently taken mine off , just so I can start listening to my Sony system
Afterburner vortex:

My old ninja2 back-box

Both backboxes have the option of fitting a removable bung which you can buy to quiet the system down for early morning/late nights & it works. However I never used it on the ninja2,but it is a MUST on the afterburner lol

The problem isn't your back box but the standard centre Pipe I am guessing you still have fitted. You will need to get a dereasonated centre pipe fitted if you want to improve the sound, it won't be a problem come MOT time or need a remap either as you will retain the down pipe.

i agree with midnight,
i have had the Vortex fully decatted, an wow what a rumble & noise, very nice. I now have the Ninja 2 and it sounds exactly as he descrribed, nice burble, not intrusive but does roar when you put your foot down, again though thats with a decat pipe.
However i have always used a after market resonated centre. Vortex had a scoobyworld resonated centre & current scoob has a Cobra resonated centre.
p.s midnight - you selling your vortex b.box?

If you want it to be noisey you have to get the cats out of there.
I have a ninja 2 fully decatted inc. uppipe and its 97db+ @4500 revs. (not exactly quiet)
Having said that, the afterburner is a way louder exhaust (horribly loud if you have any motorway miles to do, IMO)

When I had a prodrive back box and changed it for a vortex with the std center section, it was so loud that I would try to free wheel down the parade in leamington because I was embarraced to touch the throttle as people were looking around 50yds away
. After a while you get use to it, but fully decatted it's an animal
. I am on my 3rd afterburner vortex and I love the sound.
Timmy not to sure about selling it at the momment , but I do like the sound of the fujitsubo system I recently fitted,as it 3' & Not loud at all and sounds more like a V8 when your giving it plenty + you can have a normal conversation at 120 mph

on a classic, to me a 'de-cat' is the cat from turbo to centre pipe. put an open mouth 3" bore decat pipe in & have it to suit eith 2.5" or 3" to suit the rest of the system.
middle pipe, not sure what a std one is as ive never had a std on my scoobs, but i have used resonated ones just to stop the drone in the cabin when motorway cruising, does not make a massive difference but it helps.
can not comment on up pipe as i have never changed them. i believe changing these especially for Harvey ones, helps spool up from memory. Do not think they would make much if any difference to the sound on a classic by changing it.
but with you having a newer version, it could do

My Prodrive back box is fairly loud but then I’ve got a straight through centre section. I did have a TSL firestorm on the car but it was far too loud for me....so maybe a TSL Firestorm with a straight through centre section is what you are after??

cats are fine but a de-res centre section is a good idea
