I tried two spec d's and they both were the same.
53 has one also so he may be the msn to ask.
He has alot done so i am sure he will know the answer to your query regarding safe tuning limits also.
Good luck with it

Defo a single din, single disc player anything else is aftermarket beyond the aftermarket Pioneer they came with They do play MP3 but can be fussy over format. There is also Ipod connectivity in the rear if you buy the adaptor. It's not a bad unit to be fair, serves me for the use I make of it

Spec D corner...Mine has the O.E. rear wing plus the roof vane, all genuine. I have a fibreglass front splitter as it's a bit sacrificial and not worth Carbon there. I did change the whole boot lid for a normal STi one with all 17 holes and my Spec D one is in the left with the original spoiler.
The Stereo and cubby were fitted as part of the spec, not sure if done at IM or in Japan. All Spec d cars are UK ones anyway. The worst part of the Sat nav is that the control unit is also the damn tracker- and they are all placed behind the clocks in an easy to get at and disable place. I've moved mine somewhere a Tea-Leaf would struggle to find, and having removed the sat nav unit it is still a usable tracker drvice.
There's four of them on the IOM, the other three are in near standard spec. One has a splitter the other two original outside. I only know one owner and we wave if I pass him as we live at opposite ends of the Island and cross over to and from work if the time's right.

I put a guide up as it's actually not that difficult. You only go through the outer layer and fit threaded rivets like subaru do. Not the butcher job the Yank sites allude to....

Welcome onboard fellow Spec D owner. I still have the original player (Ipod connector in the cubby below). Have never managed to get Blue tooth working but do subscribe to the sat nav. I don't need to as I use a TomTom but just like pressing the button now and then and having someone saying 'and how can we help you today sir...'
Only mods are a Green filter and JGM re-map. Even replace tyres with the OEM ones - stupid in this weather I know!
