Default Any 2011s gone pop yet

seem to be a lot of them on Yank forums, but ours seem to be fine, Anyone know any differant ?

Im 16000 Miles in doesnt use a drop of Oil and funnily enough ive been driving in Granny Mode (I) and im getting very good MPG well 300 to a tank

Sorry i didnt want to spark any debates about the car again, but im happy that we dont have any horror stories like the yanks do, or the old 2008 issue

Anyone know why the 320R and 340R aint being done stateside ? is this because Pro-R is Uk only ?

300 miles to a tank you sure? I thought the car was more economical in sport sharp with the leaner map.

I mode for warming up then S#. I still cannot get my head around this type of car being used in I mode

To me if its about saving fuel (I mode) then you are driving the wrong car. Time for a Diesel Ted

You seem to worry a lot

320R/340R purely a Subaru UK/Pro-R initiative

Mainly drive in "S" mode, with use of "S#" when needed, and getting on average 25.5mpg (300 + miles from a full tank, allowing for residuals) on a mix of roads.

WTF are you lot on.... I, S or S# mode!!!! I've never heard so much nerd bollocks in my life!

Stick it in the high performance mode and use that awesome thing called your right foot. Amazing invention for increasing your fuel consumption. That and a brain!

Bushiwarrior,
I don't think the US ratings are the same as the way we measure our fuel ratings.... I could be wrong but I'm sure it's different.

Hehe ive had diesals and to be honest your probably right, but the time when i need to boot it the diesal doesnt do it for me.

I was in my mates 520D brand new and although it felt ok, just didnt cut it for me.

I need to be able to have that fun factor when the motorways finished and im on the bypass/twisties.

And to be honest theres no reason why the STI cant do it, its done me for overa year now and i still smile when i get in it.

you do realise that even though the water maybe coming up to temp the oil is still stone cold, it takes around 3 miles at 2500rpm to warm up to around 60 deg

Rob,
Agreed about not going by the water temps, but wouldn't agree about ragging with only 60deg oil temp. Should be about 80degs imo.

So what's the general consensus? I used to think 80c till my mapper said 70c was absolutely fine Problem is though, my daily commute is 6 miles.. The car NEVER warms up enough to boost on my work commute, sort of defeats the object of owning one lol can't overtake anyone

That's a good point. Getting the oil hot was so it flows better because the heat thins it.With modern 5 weight oil it should flow well straight away. I would still want to warm the engine though to allow for all the metal parts to expand to there tolerances.
Leaving an engine to idle on the driveway to warm up is not a good idea. Engines are designed to warm whilst on the move with air flow. Warming while stationary can cause damage due to hot spots according to some handbooks i've read.

I was merely using 60c as an example on how long it takes the oil to start to increase in temp. 80c on the oil before giving it greif

As someone looking to pick an MY11 up in the next 6 months Im glad to hear the previous problems haven't rolled over.

Re: the oil temp. Assume this is not displayed in the standard car so what is the cheapest option to display it without having a fat pod of dials ala Fast and Furious?

Without sounding like a ****, I'm not sure anyone can come to that conclusion based on the UK market or data available on this forum.

Not many of these cars have sold in the UK and even less people who have bought them frequent these forums.

May the boost be with you!
