Default Ecutek map tweak, price and who please.

The car has ECUTEK so the license is paid, but I want to get it tweaked for meth, plus it hasnt been mapped for a good few years.

I normally use Opensource, but as it already has ecutek im all ears

I think i have read on here that Simon does tweaks for around £150 in the past, is this still the case, and would that be for meth too ?

If its tweeked by the mapper who installed the license and wrote the current map then yes, the map tweek should be around £150.

If you're taking it somewhere else then they will have to map it from scratch, which is usually 2 hours or £300+ vat.

An ECUTEK license and ecu are only worth having if you intend using the same mapper everytime, otherwise the ecu is only worth the £150 license.

Andy hasnt had this car, so would need to map if from scratch, so I would be looking at my normal full price

I was under the impression that the map was on a ecutek registered database, the whole idea of having ecutek, or have I got this wrong? If im right then any ecutek mapper can pull the map, or simply copy the files, thus no need to start from scratch.

If Im looking at anything over £200 localish for a tweak then Andrew will be getting it.

trust me mate, i've spent months looking into it.

I've got a map on mine which Zen did but I wont go back there. It needs tweeking but i've asked various mappers on here (JGM, Dunc, Scoobyworld etc) and none of them can read the map. Its a rip off because the person who maps it basically "owns" the map that you've paid for and no-one else can read it, so if you go elsewhere then you pay from scratch.

The map is on the mappers laptop and not the ecu so who ever mapped it will have the map and unless they give it to another mapper its the same with anyone who maps your car. The saving is in the fee they pay ecutek for the license.

I would recomend Paul Blamire as he does a really good job

I believe if your mapping to now run on meth it's a re-map rather than map tweak so would be about £350 as you already have the licence.
Because its a re-map you wont need to take it back to the original ecutek mapper like you would for a tweak.

Can I ask why you won't take it back to Paul ??

He's regarded as one of the best mappers in the country by many, including many folk on here. RCM also use him which speaks for itself.

He's mapped my car many times and will do it many more times to come.

I posted about it on here a long time ago and whats done is done so I'm not going to drag it up again. My car is up for sale now so maybe the new owner will have better luck with them.

Paul can sometimes be a little difficult to get hold of but its certainly worth the effort . I have had car my car mapped by him a couple of times and have been delighted with the results .
But as others have said , an Ecutek map can only be tweaked by the original mapper but as you have the license it should cost no more than an open source remap . Do you know who mapped it originally ?

The car was mapped by Tractive Solutions.

I have made my mind up and its going to Andrew Carr for OS mapping, I've used him for all my mapping in the past, and to be honest I have been happy with all the previous results.

If your going to do this I suggest buying a standard ECU and then selling your licensed ECU as the license will be lost when its open source mapped

I think any of the reputable mappers on here will be able to do it. Why don't you contact a few of them for prices.

I've just had my my99 ecuteked. I purchased the ECU with a Bob Rawle license for £140. Bob subsequently mapped it on Saturday for under £300, wiped old map and mapped to my mods, decat, walbro and filter. So to include the filter and walbro, I spent about £500 inc mods and map to go from 215/standard torque to 280/310. Very pleased for the outlay and Bob is a gentleman!

Interesting. As I have a MY99 and was considering a VF35 before I bothered mapping, but 280/310 I'm sure would make me happy enough, too start

Big difference?

Oh yes! Pootling around, no difference except a little more low down torque. Loud pedal, much more difference. Harder initial kick on full boost and more force in the pull due to the extra torque. 0.9 bar before, 1.4-1.5 bar now Goes off my Lamco gauge as it only goes to 1.3
