TROUBLE SELECTING REVERSE

Hello,
I sometimes have trouble selecting reverse in my sti 5 type r, is this a common problem,as my last sti 3 was ok and did not suffer from this.
Is it a different gearbox in the 5, ive been told the sti 5 has a weak box and a rebuild could be neccesary when attending regular track days.

It's a problem on many cars, not just Imprezas. No synchro on reverse. Both our MY00's suffer from it. Do you try sticking it in 2nd or another gear before selecting reverse?? - this helps.
