Default this may be the end :(

last nite i had to go and pick my 6 yr old nephew up so thought it would be good to take the scoob out for a drive, sadly on the way home the oil pressure gauge dropped and before i could pull over safely the car turned in to a tractor ive only had the car back 4 months and done less then a 1000 miles in it im truly gutted as ive had 3 engines fitted this yr 2 because of a dodgy garage and one i bought from a mate (pressent engine) that is a 2004 sti.my luck has been so bad that a local breaker has offerd me £1000 for it as it is and im tempted to take it and call it a day with the brand but ive put alot of money and hard work in to the car lately it would be a shame to get rid

sounds like there is an underlying issue which is causing these failures.
what ecu is fitted? has it been mapped/chipped. what fuel do you use?

the first was head gasket that went i took it to a garage and they ballsed it (not sure how) so i got another and they killed that one one aswell (again not sure but all pistons looked like they had be shot blasted).the new one was solid useing tesco momentum fuel (no shell local) and im running a chipped ecu that was done mapped with full ss and front mount ran strong down at engine tuner but i hit a pot hole last nite really hard and was thinking maybe this has helped kill it off

Errrm mate I think I have found the problem. When you put a new engine in it it was a rebuild. You should have had a base map and ran the engine in and then gone for a final map.

as above, so you've just been chucking engines in without getting it mapped or checked for det/fuelling etc?

Ticking bomb unfortunately, as you've just found out.

I don't follow. The last engine you put in, was it second hand or a bought block that was rebuilt?

If you've just been buying engines and sticking them in then it's the risk you take sticking any old crap in. 3 engines though, there's an underlying problem there whether it's the car, the driver etc.

Not worth saving up and having a rebuild done by a reputable company on here?

it was second had out of my mates car he was brakeing so no running in needed. as i said above my origanal engine the head gasket went so itook it to a garage local to me that said they could do it 6 weeks later i was told that the cyleders where scoored bad and the crank was shot.i was at work one day talking to a builder who had a crashed scoob in his garage so went and had a look the engine ran fine (20 mins) so i had that one another 6 weeks and the garage tell me that they left the car outside running and after 15 mins the water temp went sky high and knackerd that one.i had new head gaskets and cambelt ect ect on it so was really pissed untill my mate sold me his and i got someone else to fit it,like i said it worked fine air/fuel was good so on and pulled strong.

You still should have the map checked regardless of how strong the engine is or what the afr reads. The car has to be setup properly and with this cold weather the fueling was no doubt up the wall.

you live and learn from the mistakes.
