Default Turbo Question Guys

Hi guys,

just wondering if anyone is using a borg warner turbo on there scooby, preferably a classic.

am looking into turbos for a 2.1 strokered EJ20,looking for power in the region of 350 to 400bhp,

have looked at the vf34 but seems to be around 330bhp mark.

also looked at the sc range of turbos.

Was thinking of a garret GT28 series, aroound the 380bhp mark.

and also looked at the GTX28 series that is good for 400bhp

but heard that the borg warners are even better than these

I want the least lag possible as i intend a FAST road spec

any one got any info?

Thanks in advance

Jamie

hhhmm must be putting quite a bit of pressure on the turbo.

looking at peoples comments and researching, there are better turbos than the vf34 for the power range? the sc billet series perhaps?

borg warner are looking very interesting,as are the garett gtx, would like to know about fitting these to the ej20 though.

hks do a kit to use a gt from garrett i was told? and have heard the borg warners are a bit hard to fit.

have had figures of 532 bhp from the borg warner equivalent of a GTX3071 and the gtx was giving 492 bhp on an evo 9.
also the borg warner was spooling 300-400 rpms faster.

they sound like a good turbo to me lol?

someone must know more on this..

have also read vf48s are hard to get hold of @ AN07

I'd go for a SC42 twin scroll set-up.

Will defo make 400 and should have amazing spool as it has two ball-bearing low-friction bearings supporting the shaft, plus a 33% lighter billet comp wheel.

The combo of 2.1/TS/BB/billet should make it spool like a *******! A lot of expense though, as aside from 1800 sovs for the turbo itself!, you'll have to spend £800-1000 in obtaining the TS sump/headers/uppipe/downpipe, too!
