Default Decat to ReCat Do I need a map ?

i have decided to ReCat my 05 sti it currently has a full H&S 3" system but due to the new legislation seeming a bit more black and white than the previous friendly Mot/as long as it makes emissions etc setup

My car was mapped for the decat and so having never gone from Decat back to a cat in the same car do I need to map it again ?

I have gone for the Japspeed 3" 100cpi cat currently on groupbuy

Yes, putting a cat back on will be like strangling your car.

if just putting it on for an mot i think as long as you stay off boost you are fine then put full decat back on . will only cost £30 or so to swap over for mot and back

Your car will would never pass an MOT without the cat anyway so nothings really changed that much. But yes if your putting it back on you will need your map altering.

Sports cat is not legal on post 2001 cars either, but doubt there would be a problem if it passes emissions

Really ? I thought if your car left the factory then at MOT time in2012 it should have one ( of sorts ) and be able to pass emissions, the Decat is not a prob as it passed emissions this year more a case of invalid insurance in 2012, and getting stopped just don't want a situation where I have to deal with this!

Funny this I can drive my mundano diesel like I've nicked it without attracting attention, STI different story even when taking due care and attention

not sure if it would invalidate your insurance....a split wiper could fail your MOT but wouldnt mean your insurance isnt valid...

As i said earlier...the only change has been that if it was fitted with a cat frm factory then it has to have one....not sure if a sports cat affects it or not, wouldnt have thought so...

As for getting pulled, VOSA have been doing roadside emissions checks for years, so doesnt really change anything.
