Default 2001 wrx ppp upgrades and mods

Right I have bought a nice Standard 2001 wrx with ppp and it's on 68k so not too many miles. I want to know what performance mods I should buy and upgrade to improve 0-60 and just general torque. The car already looks good with light upgrade, sti kit and grey 18 inch lightweight wheels.

Budget is not a big problem but if you could give an indication of what each would cost that would be great

decat exhaust, 3 port solenoid, walbro pump, panel filter and remap should see decent gains. Budget around £700.

Turbo swap to a VF34/35 etc would see 300+ bhp and a lot more fun, add £300

Right sounds good, what bhp can I aim for running on standard internals?
Plus does anyone know a good company north manchester region to carry out the work?

Well, in effect it already has remap and light exhaust mods, so to get any worthwhile improvement, you'd want to change the turbo. Best not to go too daft on power to preserve the gearbox (mine went on my 2001 WRX, but I reckon I was pretty unlucky as the power and torque weren't at all silly).

Suggestion 1: VF35 or VF34 turbo for a good combination of power and spool (will be a few hundred rpm later). You'd need improved injectors, STi pinks. Think Prodrive kit may include uprated fuel pump, but someone cleverer than myself will now come along and say what supporting mods you'd need and the likely costs! Worth going for a Milltek exhaust or similar if you have the cash (£1k) as the Prodrive is slightly restrictive.

Option2: You could also consider the Andy F TD04 Hybrid turbo, just as responsive as std TD04, but will manage 300 to 320bhp. Cheaper as no need to change injectors. I had this and it made for a great road car.

Vf35 should see about 330bhp to 340bhp iir correctly.

If you go for a bigger turbo, VF 34/35, you will need bigger injectors to get the best from the turbo. If you're happy with around 320ish,WRX intercooler will suffice.
Decat exhaust £300 to £1000
STI pinks £150
VF35 £350
Walbro £90
decat up pipe £40
£300 OS remap
£40 decent panel filter
Decent discs and pads a worthwhile addition as the standard setup is well stretched above 260 bhp

Safe power on standard internals is usually quoted up to 350bhp, some more, some less.

I'm running 305bhp and 300lb/ft on standard internals with a VF35, front mount intercooler, walbro pump, induction kit, sports cat exhaust and ECUtek remap.

All depends how wild you want to go. If you stick with the standard td04 then expect around 280bhp running on Vpower with the previous mentioned mods, add a better turbo like a VF35/34/24/28 and see 300+

You can do most of it yourself or alternatively find somewhere like scoobyworld who does an upgrade pack

I'm running 300+ on standard 440 yellows so unless he's going for the top end of what a VF34/35 can run I would have thought he should be ok on stockers.

Pop down to Powerstation for their stage 1/2 upgrade if you're not that bothered about cost otherwise find a good Decat/Sports Cat exhaust, panel filter, STi Intercooler with scoop and undertray (will need hoses as well), Wallbro fuel pump, 3 port solenoid, and a VF34/35 turbo.

You may need a de-cat up-pipe as well (can't remember if the PPP has one) then get it mapped!!

as above........The PPP kept the pre-cat in the up-pipe, you might also wish to change the injectors to STi pinks and run better plugs (NGK PFR7B).
