Default 1994 wrx advice on running issues ???

I'm experiencing a very very low almost no amount of boost yet the bov is dumping (very slightly)??

also being in 5th gear at 60 mph 2.5 k rpm runs nice on the motorway yet as soon as I put my foot down the car bogs out and it's like hitting a brick wall then all of a sudden it picks back up again (very misfirery) but just doesn't like being driven over 60 mph this is beginning to do my nut in big time now and thought id see what you lads say ?

Are you sure that the boost gauge is reading right? If the car still feels quick, mak sure you don't have a leak between the inlet manifold and the gauge.
The other option is that BOV is leaking. Do you have a re-circ one to put back on so that you can test if that's the problem?

please tell me this isnt the £1500 one you posted about yesterday?

At least 10 people replied warning you of the issues you might face with a car of that age/mileage mate.

Sounds to me like a blown turbo, but could be a whole host of things

Oh dear. Really should of taken the advice given in your other thread buddy.
You may well have bought into some serious issues there. £1500, 125K, 1994, WRX are not a good combination.

Did you not test drive the car before you gave the man your hard earned ???

Does it do this in all gears? by this i mean not rev over 2.5K - if so could be running in "get you home mode" due to the ecu seeing a fault and not letting it run on boost to save damage

If you have just bought the car then take it back and get your money back - not fit for purpose!

More than likely was a private sale so sold as seen springs to mind.
A few years back I had a 95 WRX with a similar issue. Was sometimes fine but quite often went into 'limp' mode. Borrowed a MAF off a pals car to test and it was fine. Bought myself one and problem solved.
You need to do a fault check. I can't for the life of me remember how to do it, something like putting two plugs together under the dash or something. Do a search on here, sure you'll find it.

Could be something as simple as a leaking hose, or it could be turbo hard to diagnose m8. Hard to diagnose problems without actually seeing / hearing car

Brick wall reminds me of boost cut as the ECU is trying to protect the engine from overboosting.

Try an ecu reset http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...ledge/ECUReset and if this doesn't help, please, please take it to a reputable specialists.

I'm sorry to say but you really should have listened to advice on here. £1500 should in the current market buy you at least a good running early Wrx FFS

A fool and his money springs to mind.

Good luck
