Question Sti 320R - Satnav

Hi,
does anybody know if the Pioneer satnav fitted as part of the 320R upgrade (BT320 I think) is supposed to mute the radio/CD/MP3 audio when it gives directions.
I can't hear the spoken directions over the music.

Do any of you 320R owners out there get the same problem ?

Cheers, Ian

Go home

A) You'll either never see it again it will be end up somewhere in outer mongolia

B) A lorry will run over it while it's going around in circles for 45mins lost

Either way a result

Guys, thanks for the replies (I think).

Don, I've already played with the volume control but if I have it high enough to hear over the music it makes my passengers jump out of their skins when the music is off.
The Kenwood satnav in my forester mutes the audio before giving spoken directions which makes a lot more sense.

I guess from your reply that the Pioneer isn't that clever. I just thought I'd check just in case the dealer had left a connection off somewhere.

You and Tony don't seem to rate the navigation capabilities of the unit. Mine seems to be fine, I've used it many times in the last month all over the country and its been great. In fact I rate it better than the Kenwood for route navigation. I think the Kenwood is sponsored by the "British Commerce Association" since it insists on taking me up the main High street of every town on route rather than use a bypass.

Can I determine from your replies that your planning on replacing the stock unit with an uprated one ? If so what models are you looking at ?

Cheers, Ian.

Unlike budgie and Tony,

I have no experience of the F320BT unit as my WRX STi didn't come with the sat nav originally (car purchased before the freeby offer made) so I got the F920BT instead for a reasonably good deal.

Have had no problems with this unit so far.

I have the 930bt and its not the navigation thats so bad.
Its the steering wheel functions that are my problem.
The unit on the whole is not as good as my 5year old avic x1r

Thumbs up

Thanks Guys, I'll just have to resort to "background music" when I'm using the satnav.

Mine couldn't even find a Postcode in liverpool I went 16 times around a block till i got dizzy I left dealers to go "home" sent me off the roundabout up the wrong road, then back around roundabout 3 times to get the right exit

Went to Wales and it took short cut, I went off juction 8 on motorway and straight over roundabout rejoined straight back on juction 8. FFS

Sometimes takes 20 mins to know where it is, sometimes driving in a field alongside the road some road detial seems to be missing or the sat nav cant catch up

like Budgie I had a 7yr Avic-X1R & 6cd changer and brilliant bit of kit, You could see next two turns, had acceleration and G-Force meters built in Ok Bluetooth and reversing camera were iffy) I've installed it in 3 of my scoobs and moved myself with no issues

I'm going to get the F-20 or F30BT at least I'll be able to see the screen. I'll fit it myself and wooh betide someone if external Aerial is poorly Placed/connected Don's supplied me with diagram for positioning

so maybe not toooooooooooooo happy with the Tisco blue stripe freeby
IMHO

Tony

Boy am I glad the navigation unit in my 330S isn't like that - OK the maps I'd say are a couple of years old alright

The only thing I would change if I could is the volume level of instruction together with the ability to change the voice to something else.

You guys with nav problems must have faulty gps sensors. Mine was fine for the week that it was in my car. I changed it as I didn't like the small screen or the iPod control. The 920 that I have now is much better all round.

lol i was so jealous when u *******s got the that new headunit i was still stuck with my sack of crap clarion, But you know im glad i have my tom tom :P

Is it really that **** ?

I might have to look at kenwood ????

Only thing that annoys me about the standard clarion unit is well 2 things really

handsfree is BAB

and playlists on an Iphone Ipod are pointless and unreadable.

so i either buy a massive headunit with it all in or have seperate stuff installed

whats the parrot stuff like on the headunits ? ??? is it good or have you reverted back to your headsets ?

Parrot and iPod are fine. Radio is ok. But the sat nav is poo if it was a £50 Tom Tom off eBay I'd have sent it back.
