What sort of power are you wanting? Are you happy to sacrifice quick spool for more power or do you want a quick spoling turbo with lots of low down torque

well this is the question the mods i have so far is a full 3" decat system, uprated fuel pump, uprated headers, cold air intake, front mount intercooler and need a set of 750cc injectors so wondered what turbo would be better with that lot to hit the 400 horses mark

43 i dont know. The 18's max out around 370 or just over. But the low down spool is great.

Vf43 is good for 350-360 max. The 20g with a meth mix map would get the 400 you want. I am going down the vf48 route with meth map

The vf48 produces better results, do a search on them.

Yes they're similar just VF48 will flow more and made more bhp,but still these turbos are great on 2.5L
If you looking for spool and real quick road car i would go with 18G or VF34,these two turbos are similar and have similar spool characteristic.
If you are looking for BHP,i would go with 20G,with right setup is possible 400bhp+,with VF43/48 not sure if they will made 400bhp+
VF48 will make with right parts around 360-380bhp,VF43 will make again with right parts 340-375bhp.

Don't bother with the VF43, they are prone to cracking
VF48 is supposed to be a good turbo OEM upgrade

TBH all the above will give similar reults on a bug STi in the real world IMHO
When I went for my TD05 18G plus a bit of methanol on my bug I went for EXE-TC suspension to try and stop it from killing me...

He has a 35 from standard so a 34 will give little or no gain

Seeing as you have 740cc's i.e. loads of fuelling (for well over 500!), then I'd whack on the SC42 Billet. Assuming all other supporting mods are sorted, you'd be unlucky not break 400 on V-Power only (probably lol).
Kev at the Clinic seems to think the spool of the 42 is similar to the "2 sizes down" SC38!

I have always wondered how an 18G would compare directly to the VF48 actually. Particularly interested in seeing them with a meth mix!
