Default Advice needed - sell, repair, break

Would be interested in what you guys think, what you think the car is worth or what direction I should take.

Ok heres the deal. I bought the car in April and have done 2000 miles since but now it has a knocking bottom end and I dont know what to do

Its gutting me having the car sitting outside the house but I just dont have the money to fix it at the moment and the longer it sits there insured/taxed/mot'd etc the more its getting frustrated. I dont have anywhere to store it otherwise I would but its a 2nd car for me as I have a work car too.

Option 1 - My budget wont stretch to a rebuild or anywhere near so if I'm to repair it I'd need to get a replacement lump or bottom end + remap tweek, which I can just about scrape together (£700). I have free help to get it fitted so thats not a proble. The problem is, finding an MY99/00 bottom end/engine within my budget that is useable isnt proving easy and every time I get some money together a bill comes up and my savings take a hit, I just cant get on top of it.

Option 2 - Sell it as it is so that someone can then repair/break it and put the money + savings towards another car or wait til I can afford to add more to the budget.

Option 3 - Break it and hope to recoup enough to then buy something else, but this is doubtful as I dont have anywhere to do it, or the time.

Heres my car and the spec

2000 X reg Facelift Classic, Mot til Feb 2012, Tax Til December, 118,000 miles

The car was a cat D in 2009 and has been fully repaired and resprayed (reciepts available for £3500). Rear arches have rust appearing where the bumper meets the arch, stonechips on the front bumper/bonnet.

get a small loan and source out a running newage sti that is about to be broken, have the bottom end fitted to your heads.

£800-1200 for a strong reliable engine.

As I said, I cant lay my hands on that sort of money, wether it be loan/card/overdraft or whatever, otherwise I would have done it by now. That why I have to save up and its proving difficult. I dont have the disposable income of some of the people on here who can click their fingers and throw a grand at a car on a whim unfortunately.

So you are now down to two options then.....sell or break..

Probably more money in braking seeing as it was a cat d.

Surley with the spec and level of work done to it , it's worth holding onto and saving the cash to do a proper job.

I honestly think if you let it go you will soon regret it.

I'll regret it more if I dont do something with it as its sitting outside my house like an expensive ornament at the moment. It will proberbly take me another month to save up enough so i'm just considering my options.

Definitely keep it. It would be a shame to get rid or break such a lovely looking classic that's had so much done to it

dont be too quick to make a decision.my first white one i put alot of time and money into it and broke it to buy another one due to engine issues and not alot of cash around to fix it. i still regret it now selling up as im always chasing how good that car looked and havent managed to replicate it since and that was 8/9 years ago.
