A trip to Cobra Sport Exhausts
Well recently it became obvious that I needed a new backbox on my forester TTB as it was blowing badly, so looked into it only to find that the forester is a tiny bit longer than the impreza so they were a lot more money to buy which was a hard pill to swallow.
Anyway I started to look at the usual places such as Hayward and scott etc and in the end after a conversation with Pete at Cobra I discovered they could make and FIT a backbox to my own requirements for just over £60 LESS than the cheapest of the others. Now being on scoobynet for as long as I and many other's have been we have all heard the stories good and bad about Cobra or exhausts uk, so thought I would give it a shot and record what happened good or bad and put it on here.
I arrived at the agreed time, well about 10 minutes early.
I went to the reception told them who I was and after a friendly greeting I was offered a coffee and pointed in the direction of the waiting room where Pete came to me.
Straight to business asking me what sort of noise I wanted and what I wanted the backbox to look like.
There was plenty to choose from
also a few for the barry boys
I could have fit my head in that one
So once I had confirmed my choice of tailpipe and sound, I was told it was going to be a bit of a wait, he said about two hours, which I expected for a hand made backbox, so I had a sit down and had a chat with the Stig..
this is my car just before they took it into the garage.
During.
In and around the garage area.
I watched Gary whilst he was doing the backbox and I expected it to be a really easy job with little effort needed (no offence) but they start with a straight piece of tube and basically make it from scratch! he even came and asked me where I wanted the tip of the exhaust to be in relation to the bumper
This made me smile
This was for sale in the car park
Anyway after just 1 hour and 30 minutes it was done
A week on, and I can honestly say it was a great experience and the quality of the exhaust for the amount of money that I paid was fantastic! if you need an exhaust give these guys a chance, I dont think you will be disapointed
