help please..... scooby classic 98my faults
Firstly hello to everyone and congratulations on an excellent site.......
i have just purchased an s-reg classic impreza wrx in green,
it has had some work done to it including a HUGE front mount intercooler,
full stainless cat back exhaust, induction kit and other mods i have not even discovered yet lol.....
anyways, the car had just had an engine change and in the boot i found the old throttle body, injection manifold and injectors and the idle controll valve.
the old throttle body had a seperate hole in the manifold for the idle control valve ( which is a 3 wire connector). the new manifold thats fitted to the car has no seperate hole for the idle control valve, instead it is a 6 pin connector and the idle control valve is mounted on the throttle body itself.
is there any way to convert a 3 pin connector into a 6 pin connector? the car is idling poorly until its warm (understandibly)
also the temperature gauge is not working but is connected engine end and i removed and refitted the connectors at the cluster end just incase it was a faulty connection.
finally the speedo isnt working properly , instead it either does not work at all or acually works backwards..... ie: i do 30 mph and the clock reads 120mph, as i slow down it reads a faster speed until finally it rests at the 6 o'clock position which is where it stays when the car is stationary.
any help would be muchly appreciated guys, i want my scooby running right asap lol

Back to the drawing board again.....
Speedo did a full turn on boost in 3rd and now sits the wrong side of the needle rest and stopped working again.
Located an injection manifold with everything I needed, stripped old manifold off to find out the location of the bolts is different. The engine fitted has the bolts at a diagonal mounting and the new one has str8 mounting points so won't fit.
Problem is that I now believe the engine to be from a newer car which is why the wrong connector is on the loom(3 pin) for idle control valve. And the actual idle control valve on the car is a six pin..... Not sure I can remedy this...
Any help would be much appreciated guys

Poor idling could be the ICV or MAF-related.
I assume the car HAS had a remap after all those changes?
I thought the 98 ecu's couldn't be mapped, maybe the WRX import is different?
Carnetix at Melton Mowbray, and Scoobymania not far from you, with Scoobyclinic a bit further.
