Help pls! Classic petrol cap won't open!

Default Help pls! Classic petrol cap won't open!

Can't open it? What can I do? Is this common? Something broken? Its always been crap at opening?

Any suggestions would be awesome

I read somewhere you can remove the trim inside boot on petrol filer side and get to the release catch from behind and manual pull it open, when the cable fails. I'll have a look to see if i can find where I read that.

Mine does this regularly, usually at the pumps, get someone to work the lever next to the seat, and use a key or similar in the gap around the flap and it should open, just be carefull of the paint work.

WD40 and bend the spring a bit, you can fit another spring in there to provide the force to open.
