Transmission loss???
Hi all, have read a number of posts about scoob vs other quick cars and hear about transmission loss quite a lot. Can someone please explain to a nugget like myself what this is? Thanks!

i think if i remember correctly you loose app 30% with the scoob being 4x4 however ive always thought you gain most of that back with not spinning the wheels when accelerating hard ?

It's basically the loss of power through the transmission/drive train, for example if your engine is producing say 260bhp at the flywheel then chances are your only around the 200bhp mark at the wheels, alot of 2wd cars producing 260bhp at the flywheel will be producing up to 30-40bhp more at the wheels but the Subaru makes up for this with it's traction

You lose nowhere near 30% dccd cara will lose less than none dccd cars, wide sticky tyres won't do you favours either, an average example is about 3-5% more on a dccd equipped car v a fwd car so less than 20% losses (mine worked out at 17%).
