i use STP Octane Booster. can't say if it's the best or not, but definitely eliminated the detonation problems i was having before. was about £6 in halfords

Quite expensive and sooner or later the cost will out weigh getting a remap done to accept UK SUL. Alternatively you could go to Jennychem and order a 205 litre drum of methanol. a helluva lot cheaper than NF by all accounts.

I've a sti v5 and have always used 99 from Tesco since I've had the car which is over 3 years now.

I'm just wondering if I start using this NF Octane stuff will it cause any problems with my engine. I know it will probably be totally fine but as the engine is use to the 99 stuff for all this time. the extra stuff might upset it.

correct, but on an imported jap engine that has a map for 100ron fuel it will stop it from detonating and $hitting itself.

for genuine octane improvers you need to get NF Race formula or the Millers Octane+, CVL, CVL turbo ranges.........

all of these give a min of 2 full RON unlike the "flashy" products shown/tested by 5thgear that are not much better than adding water IMO........

most aim to "confues" the purchaser by stating any improvement in Octane POINTS which sound fantstic when your getting 4, 5, 6points+ etc......BUT an octane point is a TENTH of a RON! so you only actually getting a marginal improvemenet (if at all) LOL.....

hope this helps, alyn

Millers CVL is good stuff, I used that with VPower in an umapped JDM WRX classic for years with no problems. I think there's some for sale in the Subaru parts section.
