DO NOT USE SILICONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The correct stuff is Sika-Flex or Tiger Seal, sold by car paints sellers. If in doubt, ask a bodyshop where to buy it. It's a polyurethane glue, comes in black, grey or white. Once it's on with that stuff, it's not coming off.
Self tappers into wheel arch, yes, use a washer under the self tapper, preferably get some stainless screws and washers. www.yell.com, bolt and nut suppliers, or e-bay, in packs of ten.
DO NOT overtighten self tapper, it's there to hold it until the glue goes off.
Tip: Tiger Seal/Sika-Flex are removable when wet with white spirit. Have some and a supply of kitchen roll handy.
