Default GB270 or STI type uk?

Hi guys, i'm looking at buying 2007/2008 impreza. Its between the GB270 and STI type uk. Any advise from owners would be great. Also if you know of any good websites which show the stats for the two cars would be great.

Go for the STI you will end up regreating not buying an STI if you go for a wrx GB270. Have you also consider the Jap spec sti or spec c both these cars are far superior than there UK counterparts. They come with the stronger 2.0l higher reving engine ,twinscroll turbo equal length headers and have a few other bits and bobs to. Plus the engine is good for 450bhp plus with changing anything incas you get the mod bug.

Default STI UK

Get the STI - cheaper than the GB270 and has the 6 speed box and DCCD. The box is much stronger so better for mods in the future.

However look at Litchfield imports for a JDM as these have the 2 ltr engines with The stronger forged internals so again much better for mods down the line.

I have the GB270 Wagon because of having 2 dogs but have now modded the brakes, suspension and engine.

I agree about the STi being the better base vehicle, but even the JDM STi's (except for Bugeye's that is) don't have forged internals, they may be stronger than the UK equivalent but still have eutectic cast pistons.

Default Not Forged

My Mistake - Must Try Harder - better base vehicles for modding though - although the 2.5's are very easy to get to 350/350 (or more) with lots of low down torque.

Get any sti over the wrx, much better base cars if you want to mod it at a later date. If not then I guess it comes down to looks and which you would be happier driving. For me again the sti would win

Which do you prefer to drive?
What fits one individuals requirements won't necessarily fit yours.
What do you intend using it for and how far do you intend tuning it?
Whichever you choose, WRX or STI will put a smile on your face.
Then you get the modding bug and the smile gets bigger....

+1 , i started with a hawk wrx with a couple mods, now moved onto a standard hawk sti and without a doubt the sti is hands down a better car all round.
The gearbox just makes me smile everytime i change gear ( yes iam sad lol ) then theres the whole range of other stuff as well

from owning a GB270 for the last year, i wish i had started with an STI, purely for the stronger gearbox.

It all depends if you plan on uprating the power, if so then STI, if you want to keep it standard then GB. Ive just spent a fair bit of money on mine to get it running around 330 (hopefully, its being mapped on the 29th April) i just wish i had the 6 speed box to go after more power.

Still waiting for someone to by my car, its a seat leon cupra r 225bhp if you know anyone who wants one??? I would prefer an sti, but as im not going to be modifying(exept the exhaust!) and the car is also used as a family car then if i see a gb270 with the right mileage at the right price i will go for that. I'm sure i will be more than happy either way. Can't wait now!!!!
