Looking to unleash a bit more noise on my 03 WRX blobeye, its got a cobra backbox at the moment, and adding a non resonated midpipe tomo. Id like to get the centre decat as well,but have a couple of questions about it...

1) will it throw a CEL as i know there is an 02 sensor on that cat, which obviously gets screwed backed into the decat. (will still have standard up & down pipes)

2) is this a safe mod without a remap? I know obviously i wont see any performance gains from the mod without, but thats fine as im not looking to improve performance, just enhance the noise a bit.

The downpipe cat is the main one so if you keep that then the ECU is usually pretty happy about emissions

No-you don't need to remap the car

Replacing the centre pipe with a straight thru de-cat will give you that louder sounds/burble, but cabin noise should stay the same which is normally a good thing.

 

Sorry to crash on your thread but I'm looking to do something with my MY04 as it's all totally standard. Where's the best place to get a new/decent one from?

 

I got a cobra 4.5" slash cut cobra box, 3" bore tapering down to a 2.5" flange.
You can customise how you want it though. Pretty good price, and i got free postage for mentioning a was a scoobynet member!

Im picking up a scorpion straight through middle pipe tomo, will probs get the cobra centre decat pipe too tho.

 

will be ok without a remap, you may get the mil light on but you can get a mil light iliminator that you wire into one the sensor wires, got mine from revolution.
