Sti also has intercooler water spray and different engine internals. I think power output is the same but STi has more torque (depending on the year). Wrx had ABS.

Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong!

The paint may of flaked off inlet. Possibly removed water spray for the piping for fmic. The i/c water water was located near drivers side headlight on my v4 type r.

Yours sounds like a sti to me.

errrr, there is no such thing as a WRX Type R.

There was a 3 door 2.5 RS for the US market though.

I thought they were only version 4

They also all seem to have roof vents. I know they are not called 2 door Type RAs but they AFIAK they have the same running gear (turbo, wrx engine, low ratio box)

Think insurance wise they are insured as STI Type R. A WRX Type RA is insured as a WRX (least my old one was)

Probably because they are rare as rocking horse poo no one really goes for them as the sti is more desirable tbh.
A guy called Chris (can't remember his user name, nice lad but he died of natural causes, about 38 I think ) but think his was a version 6.
