Default Import Question

Again sorry to those who find this annoying, I did search a few forums but was still left confused in part to the old dates of a lot of the information. I do wonder if it has changed.

I am about to order my agent to purchase a Subaru Impreza WRX RA from auction in Japan. I am ok with all of this up until the car arrives in the UK.

This is what I think I have to do.

-Get insurance from the VIN number.
-Book an MOT and drive it to the test centre
-It only needs a fog light as a modification?
-Drive it home and park it off the road -> Get it registered and plated

Is this correct?

I would also need to find someone to convert the speedo and radio etc but after it is on the road legally. Are there any competent places in the London area who can do this?

Again sorry if this has been covered a million times but I just need to know for sure.

Where are you picking it up from? Southampton by any chance? The vehicle will need to be put through an sva.

If you google it I'm sure you'll find a few companies down there. They might even pick it up for you.

Hi, I thought that for vehicles over 10 years old an SVA is not necessary.

I bought my old WRX through Bonsai Cars in Southampton. If you have a look on their website they have a fixed price for bringing cars into the country and making them road legal.

I'm not sure mate. It was 6 years ago when I used them. They were good at the time.

It wouldn't suprise me if business was slow. You can buy cars cheaper here than you can in Japan because of the exchange rate.
