Default Subaru Select Monitor.

I have an idling issue when my 95 wrx wagon is warming up and it also has a random boost issue when I get only 7psi.
I have checked the onboard diagnostics many times but never show any faults.

I was wondering does the ssm show more information so if a sensor was failing or not showng the correct values it would pick this up and show the error. Also are these a common thing for garages to own?

Many thanks.

Yes the SSM does show more than the diagnostic test,I put a 6K ecu in my 93WRX and had a boost problem but no CEL went to local Subaru independant garage they plugged in the SSM and instantly came up with the MAP sensor problem.

I would expect any Subaru specialist to have one

Does this tell you faults or just the values of indevidual sensors, if the later how do you know what there ment to be?
In other words is this muppet proof as Im slightly handicapped when it comes to computers.

It's the values your looking for mate, as the trigger point set on the sensors is such that problems may occur well before that trigger point is achived
. For me, yes it was muppet proof luckily enough. As my rom is already there, however if yours is not there then i read that you have to set the parameters manually.
Evoscan do some nice ready to go software that is SSM compatible, not free but very good.

Hi all, I have found this oldish thread about diagnostics for earlier scoobys, I have a 95 WRX and have found the cable I need from evoscan ($57.00) but cannot see what software I would need to order. Can anyone help?

I think that this is a very interesting thread. And i want more information about the SSM for old imprezas.

The original SSM can read error codes. Can do the evoscan or the vrwx SSM read error codes?
