Hi Timmy.. Dont know many insurance companies that touch under 25 with Subaru's.. They are about but you will pay a stupid amount for it.. Especially with a DD40 on your licence.

Very unlikely to be affordable

I'm 29, 7 years no claims, no points or anything on my license, in a good postcode and my renewal this year is looking to be around £1600.

For a 21 year old dangerous driver (as it were), I'd be surprised if anyone would touch you for less than 3 - 4 grand.

1 years NCB isnt gonna do much for you if I am honest.. I would speak to A-Plan, if they cant insure you then they may point you in the direction of someone who will.

I have a friend who was insured on a t2000 when he was 19. 2 years NCB and paid over £3k and that was 10 years ago! So with inflation and all the other things that have caused insurance to sky rocket I would say you would do well to get insured for less than £3k!

I am by far an oracle on insurance so others on here may give you some other ideas.

Good luck!

I doubt if 1 years ncb would help especially with the points. I daresay you will find someone who would insure you on a subaru, but depends how deep your pockets are.

Best thing to do would be to go through the insurance section on here, but if you cant afford the insurance I wouldnt advise putting the car in someone elses name and being a named driver as its fraudulent and could end up causing all sorts of problems down the line should you ever get yourself into an accident.

Are you actually having a laugh? i'm 21 and pay that with 3 years NCB living in a OK postcode with a modified WRX used for social and commuting!

When I got my scooby I tried the specialist insurers (A plan etc) and was advised that I wouldn't get the best deal from them unless I'd had at least a year driving "performance" cars before - seeing as I was coming from a car which was pretty much the definition of a "non-performance" car it was a bit tricky.

I may be a case of keeping the pug and waiting until you're 25 and a few more years no claims.

That said insurance is sky-rocketing at the moment, so very much a moving goalpost!

Sadly not - my insurance last year was £720 - it's now more than doubled.... That's with social/business use (I drive a lot for work)

It's a huge contributing factor for me swapping the STi for a company car

Yeh my dad says the same, he is realistic, i live in fantasy land according to him lol.

its hard when you want to change and want an updated bigger better car if you get me lol.

Might just get a quote to see roughly what i am looking at just to put me off for a few years.

Does seem a tad pricey!! I'm 28 drive a T2000 and pay just under £800 with 4 years NCB.

My brother is 21 and he drives a classic WRX, fully comp he pays £1500. I think it's your conviction that is causing the high premiums

I think the conclusion to this is that if you are lucky enough to find a good underwriter then you should get a half decent quote. Other than that I personally think you will find it hard.

remember STI's are usually more to insure though, it does seem a bit high though

I'm 23 and mine is £1450 with my g/f on it

To the O.P. I dont think you've got a hope in hell of getting insured on a scoob at a reasonable price

I think you need to wait for that conviction to expire.

Infact it's gone up that much in only six months - I bought the car in August - Bug STi, Stainless Exhaust, EU model (non UK), and the cheapest quote I got was £720. For me and the wife together, business miles, kept on a driveway.

I found that on a price comparison site, and was actually cheaper than ringing around the specialists - Aplan quoted me £1200...

I ran the exact same quote (saved from last time) on the comparison sites last week - so six months have passed, and the cheapest was £1625. So on that basis, waiting another six months for my renewal I can only assume it would be more than even that.

Maybe CB4 is a dodgy postcode or something.

Mate that has worried me quite badly, i live in south London and always here the police chasing some lil ****, also always here the chopper out as well so i am guessing my insurance 2 is going to be rediculious....

pimp out the 306. iv got one of them as well as my prezza. i have the 306 at 130 bhp at the mo, going for 150-170 later in the year and thats only with a fmic supplied and fitted by myself plus the fuel pump and turbo have been tweaked. it goes like a rocket and i get 500 miles to the tank.
i also buy 10 ltr tubs of veg oil from tesco to slam in it during summer months. result!

was thinking about that mate, but imo its not worth the money for an extra few bhp. before that i would just by a bora or dub of some stye with more horsepower to begin with lol, lik 130-150bhp then remap to 170-180 lol.

the intercooler wouldnt be cheap and the tweaking of pump n turbo cost 120 notes and going from 90 to 130-170 horses is a big difference, but its the torques that you want loads of. i want to get mine on a dyno later in year to see what torques im pulling, im thinking its more than my prezzas 228ft/lbs.

I feel quite guilty reading some of the quotes on here... I'm 35 and have an 2005 STi, 5 years NCB, and I pay just £498 per year to insure it, with no mileage restrictions.

I do, however, live in the middle of a bunch of fields!
