Yes, make sure its a version 6 to start with and not a version 5, easiest givaway is a version 6 sti has a clutch start, ie you have to depress the clutch to start it, then see what fuel its run on, is it mapped for uk fuel etc, last serviced (belts especially), check for rust around the rear arches and windscreen.... big list, take a copy of the applied model codes off either the sidc site or catherineandken site.

http://www.subaru-impreza.org/impreza-checklist.html

this should help, and check the spoiler is the right one, a v6 sti spoiler has more of a rear lip than a v5

Agree with Banny, still check out the applied model code for a version 6 which should be this GC8G4ED

Fella that is the vin number, on the same plate there is an applied model code and if it matches the one Tony posted then it is a version 6

Thats the chassis number, you need the applied model code, its on the little plate on the passenger side suspension strut in the engine bay.

What looks like a version 6 doesnt mean it is a version 6, to confirm it you need to check the applied model code, then you know if it is or not

Very nice, make sure you find out when the timing belt was last changed,as my version 6 is getting a new bottom end and cylinder heads fitted as we speak due to belt failure.
Cracking cars but worth it
