Default Alarm Issue

Hello all,

Strange thing happened with my 06 STI this afternoon. The alarm started going off, I went out to turn it off and my key fobs didn't work so I had to use the key in the door lock to get in. Then I tried the keys in the ignition...Nothing.

After about 10 minutes the alarm then stopped of its own accord.

It looks as though the battery has drained as the lights on dash etc were very dim. I haven't used the car for about 3 weeks.

Has anyone had similar issues?

The car is fitted with the factory alarm/immobiliser and an RAC trackstar.

Sounds like you need a new battery.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that. Hopefully there wont be any issues starting it after charging/replacement...I'll get on the phone to my Subaru dealer in the morning.

3 weeks is a long time , give it a good charge it should keep you going for a while longer

I've been doing some research on this and it seems that loads of people (some on here) have had similar problems with battery drain from RAC Trackstars. If it turns out that that is my problem I may see about getting the damn thing taken out.

The Trackstar isn't registered as I couldn't justify the annual renewal fee. I live on the Isle of Man...Cars just don't get stolen here and with local insurance companies, having a tracker seems to make chuff all difference to your premium.
