Also, is there really THAT much difference between a pre-DCCD UK STI - blobeye STI and Bugeye STI?

Not interested in differences in seats or dash - only interested in the oily bits.

I actually prefer the Prodrive Bugeye to the Blobs - lowered with deep drift type wheels they look stunning.

The "Prodrive" is a JDM car, the "Prodrive Style" is one of the first MY02 STI type UK cars.
The "Style" is just cosmetic differences, the JDM "Prodrive" has a roof vent etc.

Only looking at UK cars. I know there are a few JDM Prodrives in the UK though.

Been looking at everything from cheap early imports as fast road projects and keeping my Jeep for daily duties. As clean as possible MY99-00 UK car for 6 months summer use and keep my Jeep for 6 months winter use - my favorite option as I keep my Jeep.

Or sell the Jeep and have a Prodrive bug as a daily or 54/55 Plate UK blob with DCCD.

I like UK300s but they are pricey considering the differences over a standard WRX is only cosmetic. Don't really want a newage WRX.

I'm just thinking out loud and weighing up the options of what to get.

I've only ever driven classics. Only newage I've driven was a friends 05 WRX which was nice but I prefer the classics.

I like to drive quick but most of the time I've got the family in tow so I'm not entirely sure its worth the extra cost to me buying an STI over the UK Turbo or WRX.

I don't mind having older cars and quite happy to accept a classic would need a bit of work here and there. I'd like to keep my Jeep but if I do that I don't want to spend any more than say £3K on a car that is going to spend 6 months of the year sat in the garage. However, if the car is going to be my daily driver I will spend more as it will be our main car.

Ideally its either a MY99-00 Sonic Blue or Mica Blue classic or Graphite Grey STI or RB5 - upto a limit of £4K for the STI or RB5. April to October = Impreza, October to April = Jeep.

OR a black bugeye STI or Prodrive STI - up to a limit of £6K. My Jeep isn't worth all that much but winter seems to add £500 to the price

I have one of the uk 02 sti prodrive jobs. And quite recently bought a 99 sti type r for a friend. I used to prefer the classics too, but after having both and being able switch and test the other.............newage is much better!!!

I also think that the stis are better value than the wrx especially if you start to mod. Mine is about to go in to be taken up to 400bhp (hopefully) and it's relatively cheap and easy to do.

As a daily drive, it's expensive. Fuel especially!!!

Thanks mate. I would probably mod the newage but wouldn't want big HP, 350+ would be enough. What does the 400hp include?

At the moment, although my Jeep isn't worth very much its actually costing me more than my old UK turbo. Its group 17 insurance which is a bit steep and some quotes were more than the scoob. Its also 4.0L petrol and averages 16MPG.

Well for me, I wanted control with power, so mods are (not all fitted yet and some of it is overkill, but future-proofing):

BC coilovers, front and rear ARB, anti lift kit, front and rear drop links
PF discs, pads, braided lines, 5.1 fluid
Panel filter, decat, AF TD05 20G turbo, 850 injectors, fuel pump, remap

I think thats about it should be fun

Not sure about fuel consumption, but driving hard and driving slowly dont make too much difference

6 speed gearbox is definitely a worthwhile plus VS the classic and WRX
